Can't make the train run on time [Session 6-7 (22-08-2021 . 07-09-2021)]

Pete is in a murderous rage after being knocked down by Gwyn.

Taelo stands over him, weapon in hand and attempts to intimidate him into stopping the confrontation, which seems to work as the fight goes out of him. Maisie is quite keen for the beat-down to continue, and prompts Lisa to take further action agains Pete,  to which she objects.
In the resulting standoff, Pete and his bodyguard take off.

The party divy up winnings and Maisie shows a great interest in the silver bar that was won from Pete, marked with two pickaxes. Meaty George reveals that the mark is the symbol of Maisie's silver claim, which he had heard had never produced much silver at all.

Questioning Maisie on this matter made her quite hostile, although she did let slip that her claim had been somewhat successful before being taken from her by "monsters". The silver ingot supposedly only holding sentimental value for the memory of her stolen claim.

The gnomish player from the card game (Heinrich) aproaches the party and asks them to transport a package to the town of Clockspring, by train. He claims this package will be sealed but contain only scientific equipment/appartus that has only value to scientists and engineers. Because of its desirability to  Heinrich's peers and competitors, it needs to travel with security.
He offers to pay 200 gp plus the cost of first class cabins on the train that leaves at midday the next day (25gp each).
Clockspring - Town on the main train line running north, nestled in the foothills of the nearby mountain chain. Founded originally by gnomes but peopled by gnomes, dwarves, elves and others.

Sage opens the box overnight, finds a complicated piece of clockwork equipment, likely a timer or lock? Leo hypothesises that it looks like a mechanical timed-detonator.

The next day the part eat a hearty breakfast, and allow Maisie to buy back her silver. Their preparations leave them running late for the midday train departure. The party take off at speed, darting and weaving through crowds, full on sprinting down the road, or playing to the crowd to open up a path, aiding them in their travels. Taelo has fruit thrown at her by some angry children and ..... has a small jostling incident.
They arive at teh train yard only to discover that teh train is notorious for always being late, and has not arrived yet. While looking to buy a ticket Taelo engages with a "horse salesman" named Vos who, in an inexplicable sales technique, requires only moderate coaxing to convince him to reveals his wares of potions for sale.
Vos sells Taelo a healing potion and identifies the potion won during the game as a potion of good-climbing (Spider-man potion).

The party purchases tickets for the train from a sad guard (Farren), with a deep and rich backstory involving a noble woman whith whom he has an unrequitred love plot. The party are unmoved, and attempt to convince him to get over it.

They then avoid being pickpocketed by a young boy and girl who had staged a trap involving a heavy crate, with the thief hidden inside. while patting themselves on the back, the party manage to lose Heinrich's case to a bpassing theif. Chasing the pick-pocket into an alley, the party are ambushed by 4 bandits.

Leo quickly casts a spell, putting one of the bandits to sleep. Gwyn darts upto the nearest bandit, the one with the stolen package, and clocks him, splitting his scalp. Lisa attempts to attack two of the enemy but misses. One bandit slashes Gwen with his scimitar, landing a nasty blow on the shoulder, while another takes a shot at Lisa, hitting quite solidly.

Sage executes the first bandit at range with a cowardly sneak attack short bow shot to the back of the head.

A brief lull in the combat ensues as the guard Farren rushes in to engage the bandits. trying to recover from the pause, both sides exchange a few unsure attacks, missing one another repeatedly. Lisa and Taelo clober one of the remaining bandits into unconsiousness. Leo then intimidates the last conscious bandit into fleeing the scene.

The guards take the surviving bandits away, after teh party reassures themselves that this appeared to be an attack of opportunity, rather than a targeted heist going after the chest.

They take a short rest while waiting several more hours for the now incredibly late train.
The train arrives, eventually, and teh party boards the train. The other passengers are mainly dwarves and gnomes, with a scattering of other races. The train decoubles several carriages (Cargo?) and exchanges tehm for new ones. Then the triain departs, leaving the city and moving into the countryside.

After a while a an official looking gnome approaches the party and collects their tickets. After teh party solve the conductors riddle, they are allowed to visit first class, where they ride out the uneventful trip.

The party arrive in Clockwork.........
